  • Ensure that you have daily data backups (ideally internal and cloud). Test backups routinely by doing restores
  • Ensure that you have up-to-date Anti-Virus/ Anti-Spam and Malware
  • If practicing BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) ensure you control access to your office resources/ data
  • Don't store critical data on a standalone PC
  • Have an IT and Social Media policy, have all employees sign it and enforce it
  • Protect your intellectual property and emails from theft or lost smart phones and laptops
  • Document your IT setup; don't let your IT partner/ department tell you that they can't give you the administrative passwords...It's your business
  • Conduct routine planning meetings, audit your IT, and adjust where needed
