Meet Humberto Comellas of ulltium consulting®
Today we’d like to introduce you to Humberto Comellas.
Humberto, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my I/T career in 1982 while studying Commercial Art in college. I was given the opportunity to join Bank of Boston International of Miami and there was given the chance to learn technology. I spent 2 years going to IBM in Coral Gables learning RPG, RPG II on IBM’s System 34, 36 platforms.
After 12 years at the bank and reaching the position of Director of Technology through hard work and dedication, I left to join Dresdner Bank Latin America AG, a German ajax bank as Director of Technology. There I spent the next 8 years and reached the position of AVP of Technology and CIO. In 1998 I joined the firm of Codina Bush Klein as CIO where I was fortunate to work with an amazing group of colleagues. At this time George H. W. Bush was president, so working alongside his son Jeb Bush opened many opportunities.
Shortly after Y2K, I decided to join the growing CPA firm of Berkowitz Dick Pollack & Brant as President and Managing Partner of their I/T practice Paradigm Technologies, where I helped grow the firm during my tenor of almost 8 years. In 2007 looking to focus my I/T consulting towards healthcare professionals, I founded ulltium consulting®, Inc. as a managed services and consulting firm serving healthcare, developers, construction and legal/professional service firms in South Florida.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Through my carrier, I have faced challenges and obstacles. These have only fueled my passion for success and building a brand of impeccable work ethics and commitment towards our employees, clients and community.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about ulltium consulting®, Inc. – what should we know?
We are a managed I/T, consulting and cybersecurity firm. We also provide web and mobile app, development. I am most proud of the impact that we have had in our clients business. I am proud of the role we have played serving in various NFP organizations, such as Take Stock in Children, The YMCA of South Florida, The Coral Gables Museum and The Dranoff Two Pianos Foundation.
But I am most proud of the reputation that my name has in the South Florida Technology sector. The countless young professionals that I have had the privilege of working, collaborating with and mentoring. See them years later as I/T Directors and CIO in their own right.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Strong work ethics, commitment and drive to succeed. I grew up not knowing my father, but my grandfather instilled in me a strong character for being a man. He always said, do what you love and never take the shortcut. The bruises and bumps that get you there will shape you and serve you well.
